WILD9 Golf Clinic: Making Golf More Approachable for Women
Golf comes up a lot in business. There are industry tournaments, client outings, charity events and plenty of conversations that happen somewhere between the first tee and the clubhouse.
The problem is that if you have never really played, getting invited to one of those outings can feel more stressful than fun.
A lot of women simply have not had the same exposure to golf. Maybe no one taught you. Maybe you have been to a driving range a handful of times but would not feel comfortable joining a foursome. Or maybe you have turned down an invitation because you did not want to be the person who had no idea what she was doing.
That is why we started WILD9.
Getting Comfortable With the Game
WILD9 gives women a chance to learn golf around other women who are learning too.
There is instruction, but there is also plenty of room to ask basic questions, take a bad swing, laugh about it and try again. Nobody cares what your score is. Nobody expects you to show up knowing golf etiquette or which club to grab.
The idea is simply to make the game feel less intimidating.
Because the next time someone asks if you want to play in a tournament or join a client outing, it is a lot easier to say yes when you have already spent some time with a club in your hands.
Why We Think It Matters
Women still make up a smaller share of golfers, while golf continues to be part of the way people spend time together professionally.
We do not think women should have to become serious golfers to be part of that.
Sometimes a little exposure is enough. Knowing the basics. Understanding how a round works. Feeling comfortable stepping onto a range or course without worrying that everyone else knows something you do not.
And for women who already play, WILD9 is a chance to get out there with other women in the industry and help make the game more welcoming for someone else.
That is one of our favorite things about the series. Women help each other. Someone gives you a tip. Someone celebrates the shot you finally got right. Someone else misses just as badly as you did and suddenly it all feels a lot less serious.
Golf, Without All the Pressure
WILD9 is meant to meet women where they are.
Some come because they genuinely want to learn golf. Some want to feel more prepared for business outings. Some come because their friends are going and it sounds fun.
All of those are good reasons.
The setting may change and the way we spend our time together may look different from one WILD9 event to the next. What matters is that women have a place to learn, practice and get more comfortable with the game without feeling like they need to prove anything.
If you leave knowing a little more than you did when you arrived, hit one shot you are proud of or feel more comfortable accepting the next golf invitation, that is a win.
