Why WILD Exists: The Numbers Behind a Movement

At WILD (Women in Industrial, Logistics & Development), we believe that lasting change starts with understanding the landscape.
Here’s what two decades of industry data reveal about where women stand today and why WILD is here to change what comes next.

Women in CRE Today

Two decades of data tell a clear story:
Women now make up just under 40% of the commercial real estate workforce — a figure that’s barely moved in 20 years.

According to CREW Network’s 2025 Benchmark Study with the MIT Center for Real Estate, women continue to be underrepresented in key areas of commercial real estate, particularly in brokerage and development, where participation still lags the industry average.

While base salaries between men and women are nearing parity, the biggest pay gaps persist in commissions and bonuses — the income tied to visibility, access, and leadership.

And for the first time in the study’s 20-year history, women cited gender discrimination as the #1 barrier to success in the workplace, surpassing compensation and advancement.

“Progress has stalled — and that’s exactly why we’re building something different.”

Why WILD Exists

When the data stays flat, it’s not because women aren’t capable — it’s because the system hasn’t evolved fast enough to reflect the talent already in it.

That’s why we created WILD — Women in Industrial, Logistics & Development.

We’re building a network that connects women in the most underrepresented sectors of commercial real estate — industrial, logistics, and development — and equips them with visibility, community, and confidence to lead boldly.

WILD is more than a membership. It’s a movement designed to amplify women who are shaping the spaces, projects, and partnerships that drive our economy forward.

The women who came before us and organizations like CREW have opened doors, and now there are more women in commercial real estate than ever. But our work isn’t done. It’s our turn to pave the way for the next generation and create space for more women across the industrial sector. WILD will create a crucial space where women in industrial real estate can support each other as they advance in their careers.

The Logistics Lens

When you look beyond real estate and into logistics — the backbone of industrial operations — the story doesn’t change much.
Recent studies show women make up about 35–40% of the logistics and supply-chain workforce, but representation drops sharply at the executive level. In transportation and warehousing, women hold fewer than one in eight leadership roles and represent only about 12% of the broader transportation workforce.

These sectors share the same foundation — they move goods, build infrastructure, and shape growth. That’s why WILD intentionally connects women across industrial real estate, logistics, and development. The pipeline to leadership doesn’t stop at the property line — and neither should our progress.

“When women succeed in logistics, they become visible role models for others—especially young women considering careers in STEM or business. This encourages more girls and young professionals to pursue careers in supply chain management, engineering, and logistics tech.” ~Tiffany Novich, Board Member, WILD
